About

I'm Christian, an internal systems engineer at efex in Adelaide. My days are mostly spent inside internal and acquisition infrastructure: big Hyper-V clusters, VMware vSphere, and the long running processes of moving those workloads out to IaaS providers.

I also own the Linux side of our national branch monitoring, built on Zabbix. It watches every branch in the country, reaches well into the acquisition datacentres, and wakes the on-call engineer when something falls over. Keeping that platform honest, so a 3am page means an actual problem rather than a flapping check, is its own ongoing job.

Before efex I was a sysadmin at Rising Sun Pictures, which is where most of my Linux experience comes from. Render nodes don't care about your plans, and neither do tape drives, which I kept fed for off-site backups through productions like Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
